Ram, also known as Rama, is a prominent figure in Hindu mythology and is considered to be the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu, one of the principal deities in Hinduism. He is believed to be born as a human on Earth to rid it of evil and establish justice.

Ram was born to King Dasharatha and Queen Kaushalya of Ayodhya in ancient India. According to the epic Ramayana, Ram was the eldest of four brothers and was loved by everyone for his virtuous character and noble deeds. As a young prince, Ram was married to Sita, a princess from the kingdom of Mithila.

However, Ram's life took a dramatic turn when his father, King Dasharatha, was compelled to banish him from Ayodhya for fourteen years due to a promise he made to one of his wives, Kaikeyi. Ram, ever the dutiful son, accepted his exile without question and went to live in the forests with his wife and brother, Lakshmana.

During his exile, Ram encountered numerous challenges and obstacles, including battles with powerful demons and battles to protect the innocent. He also had to face a personal tragedy when his beloved wife, Sita, was abducted by the demon king, Ravana, who took her to his kingdom of Lanka.

Ram's unwavering devotion and commitment to justice, righteousness, and dharma (righteousness) enabled him to overcome all the challenges and ultimately defeat Ravana, rescuing Sita and bringing her back to Ayodhya. Ram's triumph over evil and his demonstration of virtuous behavior and leadership qualities are seen as exemplary in Hindu culture, and he is revered as a symbol of righteousness, strength, and wisdom.

The story of Ram has been told and retold over the centuries, and it continues to inspire people all over the world. One of the most famous modern retellings of the Ramayana is the book "Scion of Ikshvaku" by author Amish Tripathi, which reimagines the story of Ram from a more contemporary perspective.
